Spacehog at Harpers Ferry
I remember when my good pal Chris Croft had me listen to a strange band in his Mustang back in 1995. I remember vividly driving down H Street plugging in the tape adapter to listen to Spacehog. Sadly I never got the chance to see them live way back when but fast forward 15 years (holy shit!!) and 3,000 miles to my new home in Boston and I get the chance to see them live. They played some of my favorites, In the Meantime and others from their first album Resident Alien such as Space is the Place, Spacehog, and Zeroes. It was a great show. They were a little rusty, even cracking jokes how they forgot some of their songs, but it brought me back to rocking out so many years ago.
Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band Upstairs
Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band returned to Boston and played the Middle East Upstairs this time. They played some new songs coming from their second album, which they anticipate coming out next next year sometime.
Bee Gees Metal Tribute Band? TRAGEDY!!
Bee Gees Metal Tribute Band? What in the world? Who would do such a thing? Well someone did and it is awesome. I heard about Tragedy about six months ago when I lived in Seattle. I thought they were a too funny, great tunes, to some classic songs. I never thought I’d get a chance to see them live though because they are the #1 Bee Gees Metal Tribute Band in the Northeast Corridor. To my luck moving to Boston and some surfing on Boston.com, I find them playing last Saturday night at Harper’s Ferry. Well I can’t pass this opportunity up! Well I was totally decimated from their show. Absolute blast! One of the more entertaining shows I have gone too in ages. Well worth checking out if they come to your town.
Deer Tick at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel
I drove down to Providence to check out Deer Tick at their homecoming show before heading on a major tour with Jenny Lewis. Awesome show. Video shortly.

Check out these photos of one of my current favorites, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band.
Photos from Bishop Allen show
I saw Bishop Allen a couple weeks ago and haven’t taken the time to update the site with the photos. I am experimenting with Flickr, so tell me what you think.
Ben Kweller returns to Seattle
Ben Kweller returned to Seattle tonight at Chop Suey promoting his new EP How Ya Lookin’ Southbound? Comein… and prepping for a full length LP to be released in the next couple months. Like always Ben and company played the house down, with some classics and new tracks. The addition of the steel guitar added a nice bluesy country twang to the new songs. As always it was great seeing Ben, Liz, Dorian, and company. They are so friendly. I wish them all the best on the rest of the tour and look forward to them coming back to town in the coming months. Here are some photos from the show.
Dr. Dog at the Tractor
I got to see Dr. Dog play the Tractor Tavern in Ballard tonight. They were amazing! One of the best shows I have seen this year. They played a good number of songs from their latest album Fate, which was awesome. Check out some photos.
Filter rocks me silly
So many many many years ago when I turned 21, I was all excited to see 21 and over shows. The timing was perfect as one of my favorite bands growing up was playing The Showbox shortly after. That band happened to be Filter. The show was great. Totally packed. The band rocked my ears, and it was also the first time I got to see Chevelle live. Anyway, fast forward to 2008 and Filter is on tour to support their new album Anthems for the Damned. So I had to check them out. Just for the simple fact of seeing them again after so many years and the fact it was at El Corazon, which is tiny. Well like so many years ago Filter was just as good as they were back then. Richard Patrick can really scream. Holy shit. Well check out the photos.
