Ben Kweller returns to Seattle
Ben Kweller returned to Seattle tonight at Chop Suey promoting his new EP How Ya Lookin’ Southbound? Comein… and prepping for a full length LP to be released in the next couple months. Like always Ben and company played the house down, with some classics and new tracks. The addition of the steel guitar added a nice bluesy country twang to the new songs. As always it was great seeing Ben, Liz, Dorian, and company. They are so friendly. I wish them all the best on the rest of the tour and look forward to them coming back to town in the coming months. Here are some photos from the show.
Dr. Dog at the Tractor
I got to see Dr. Dog play the Tractor Tavern in Ballard tonight. They were amazing! One of the best shows I have seen this year. They played a good number of songs from their latest album Fate, which was awesome. Check out some photos.
Filter rocks me silly
So many many many years ago when I turned 21, I was all excited to see 21 and over shows. The timing was perfect as one of my favorite bands growing up was playing The Showbox shortly after. That band happened to be Filter. The show was great. Totally packed. The band rocked my ears, and it was also the first time I got to see Chevelle live. Anyway, fast forward to 2008 and Filter is on tour to support their new album Anthems for the Damned. So I had to check them out. Just for the simple fact of seeing them again after so many years and the fact it was at El Corazon, which is tiny. Well like so many years ago Filter was just as good as they were back then. Richard Patrick can really scream. Holy shit. Well check out the photos.
Weezer Hootenanny Tracks
So Weezer is going around the country right now and inviting fans to play songs with them. They recently stopped in Seattle. My co-worker was one of the lucky ones to play along with them. Check out a couple of the tracks they recorded, especially a great cover of Creep.
the Von Bondies at High Dive
So I am always a sucker for a good rock band AND good rock bands with girls that rock out!! I have heard nothing but great things about the Von Bondies live shows, so I had to jump on the chance to see them live. After an awful first opening band, some old guys doing lots of leg kicks, and the Die! Die! Die! played, the Von Bondies took the stage and started to rip it up. Everything I heard from friends or online was totally spot on, the Von Bondies put on a great live show. They played some of my favorites including No Regrets, C’mon C’mon, Not That Social with members of Die! Die! Die!, and Fever. Jason really blew me away with his range, and Christy can really shred, she was so cute dancing around with her SG. It was a great show, and if you get the chance to check out the Von Bondies live go for it. Check out photos from the show. I might even make the trip up to Vancouver to see them at Richards on Richards on Saturday.
Die! Die! Die! at High Dive
Die! Die! Die! is a punk noise band from New Zealand. They opened for The Von Bondies at the High Dive and put on a pretty fun show. Lots of running into the crowd which was cool. Check out the pics.
