I am working on a get-in-shape-plan as well. Growing up in the Midwest meant that 'portion control' was a matter of counting how many plates one was able to clear at the buffet and I know that reprograming yourself is no easy task. I am from Wisconsin and I love cheese too.
Now I am trying to do all of the simple things that seem so hard... eating more veggies and fruits, drinking more water. Cutting out soda has been a big help albeit a difficult one. Coffee is my crux, I still drink it with sugar and cream every day. Someday it will stop... but not too soon.
I am also staying fit by using the Kinect. Dance Central is very fun, and they have a calorie counter so I can keep track of my progress; it isn't exact but with Dance Central 2 coming out I am sure that there will be improvements.
I talk about my "Dance Central Diet" on my blog, feel free to have a look. Blogging also helps motivate me to keep going, because I know that there are people that are reading about my progress and expecting more videos. :)

Oh man, I concur. Online dating is such a broken system, and continues to be broken despite also being way successful. You should find an online dating consultant in your area (and hey -- that's me, if you're in Seattle!) -- it helps a ton. It really does. The only reason I became a success in helping other people tackle such horrors is by tackling them myself, badly, for years. Sometimes it helps to get outside perspective and advice, because writing about yourself can just be way too close to home to actually get enough distance to be objectively critical about what you could be doing better. Hope I hear from you, but even if I don't, keep at it -- at the end of the day it's a numbers game, but it works out better the more you play. Heck, I met my (video game industry) husband on Craigslist of all places, and so did my two best friends. It takes perseverance and gusto, but pleasant online dating experiences CAN happen. Best of luck!

Wade Beckett is awesome. I hope you got to spend some time on the show floor checking out games!

PAX was indeed a great time. I already can't wait until next year (or PAX East, if I can convince my girlfriend...)

New blog theme looks great btw!

Hey Collin, it was great talking to you at the Weekly Geek meetup. I was wondering -- might you be be willing and available to visit my agency (Weber Shandwick, located in downtown Seattle) to talk to the staff about community management, in an informal brown-bag type setting? I know they'd appreciate your insights, and they're very interested in learning more about the games industry.

As my first PAX (been to E3, Blizzcon, other -cons), I was actually blown away by the quality of the panels. Normally I don't even bother, but I barely spent any time on the show floor and instead found myself always torn by which panels I wanted to visit.

I attended all of the Community Manager panels (how I found you, and the others), and honestly, didn't even realize this was an available career path, and am excited by the prospect.

Thanks for your time there, and particularly for people like me, aspiring to break into the industry (come hell or high water), it was inspiring and hopeful.

(Though us East Coasters need some more opportunities out here!)
