Deep Sea Diver at Neumos
Deep Sea Diver played Neumos last week with Wild Belle and it was a great show. Here is the solo song played during the encore.
New Music Tuesday – Best Coast covers Fleetwood Mac
Best Coast came to Seattle last night, and having a huge crush on Bethany, I had to go. I was treated with a great show and this cover of Storms from Fleetwood Mac. Check out the video and photos from the show below.
New Music Tuesday – Everest – Let Go
Well I kinda missed posting this on Tuesday, but better late than never. After searching around the web, I finally found the band that does the song in the Corona Beach commercial that has been stuck in my head. Well it is called Let Go by Everest. It is a fun song. Enjoy.
New Music Tuesday – Explosions in the Sky – Postcards from 1952 Video
Explosions in the Sky are amazing. Nuff said. Watch the video.
Video from my PAX East Panel
PAX East 2012 was a couple weeks ago and I was lucky enough to do another panel this year. I love doing panels, they are great fun. This year I partnered up with Steph Bayer to talk about Community and PR and how we deal with issues. We were joined by Logan DeMelt of Signal Studios, Stone Chin of Ubisoft, and Elizabeth Tobey of 2k Games.
I won’t talk about to much of what happened in the panel, but we all had a great time. It was 4:30 on Sunday, so we didn’t have a full room and those that did show up were heathens since it was Easter Sunday. But even with that we were happy with the turnout, had some excellent questions, and another amazing lightning round!
I’m already planning on what to talk about at PAX Prime!! Hopefully I don’t land a 4:30 Sunday spot again! If you take the time to watch the video, give me some feedback. Everyone on the panel would love what you enjoyed and how we can do better panels in the future!
Band of Skulls Live at The Neptune
Band of Skulls played The Neptune a couple nights ago and decided to watch the encore from the 2nd floor. Well I just turned my camera on and recorded. Crazy awesome show. Photos coming soon.
New Music Tuesday – Gus Gus
Even after well over a decade, Gus Gus continues to make great music. Polydistortion back in 1997 was one of my favorites and still makes it way into my album rotation once in a while. While checking out the amazing KEXP YouTube Channel, I stumbled across this gem of Gus Gus doing Over at the KEXP Hostel during Iceland Airwaves ’11. Check it out, the vibe is great!
Updating Videos to Sublime Video HTML5 Player
I’m always making tweaks to my website and adding more video is something I’ve always wanted to bring to the table. I have YouTube and Vimeo, but sometimes I just rather host it myself. I’ve used JW Player for a while, but decided to change things up and move to Jilion Sublime Video, which has a very nice WordPress Plugin. I’m in the process updating all my old links to new MP4 and WebM video files, which will also allow higher bitrates and HD versions if I have the source.
As a test of the new player, above is an old clip of Ben Kweller on Carson doing Sundress.
I’m also trying out JW Player, just to see the difference.
The Last of Us. Naughty Dog’s New Game.
My friends over at Naughty Dog have been secretly working on a new IP and they pulled the curtain back tonight at the SpikeVGAs. The Last of Us looks pretty damn cool. Looking forward to seeing more of it.
Grouplove at Vera Project
A couple weeks ago I went to see Grouplove at the Vera Project. Their song Colours was etched into my head while playing this years Madden, and the song is just so damn catchy that I thought I’d check them out. I took a listen to the rest of their album as well and it is pretty good. First thing. Vera Project is really young. I feel old at most concerts now, but I felt really out of place at Vera Project. I swear Chris Hanson was going to walk in or something. Quite strange seeing lots of ‘hip’ parents taking their kids to a show. Anyway, I took my camera and filmed Grouplove perform Colours which they closed with. Good show, well worth checking them out if they are in your town.
