New Theme. Trying to keep posting.

After a long week at work with the launch of BioShock Infinite I have finally been able to do some laundry and catch up on some television.  All caught up on Sherlock, Burn Notice, Top Chef, and Psych.  I also decided to try out a new theme on the site here.  I think it is a little easier to read and parse.  Tell me what you think.  The theme was built by the wonderful people at WooThemes.

More posts shortly.

BioShock Infinite. Why I moved to Boston.

Last year I moved from the lovely Seattle, Washington out to Boston, Massachusetts for at job at Irrational Games.  Leaving Seattle behind was difficult as my entire family is in Seattle, all my friends, all the great friendships I have developed while living out there, and a great game development community, but the project was too good to pass up.  And now I can publicly show everyone what exactly made me move 3,200 miles away.  BioShock Infinite.

Please check out the official website at http://www.bioshockinfinite.com as well as head over to http://www.IrrationalGames.com to learn all the news about the game.

Sherlock. A new show from BBC.

BBC launched a new version of Sherlock Holmes tonight simply called Sherlock.  Taking place in the 21st century London, it takes bits and pieces of all the popular dramas on television today and places them together with the legacy and timeless characters of Holmes and Watson.

The 90 minute premiere was a blast to watch.  Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes is brilliant and Martin Freeman as injured Afghanistan war vet grounds the show.  While it is odd to watch a 90 minute television show, it was paced quite well.  Shot very much like Law & Order here in the States, it does have a certain level of nerd factor as seen with the display of text messages on screen.  It is quite charming.

I am excited for the next episodes, but sad that they are only planning three 90 minute episodes for the entire season.  I’d be one to track down when Sherlock will air on your local PBS station.

The Pacific

Tonight HBO airs the 2nd episode of The Pacific.  I loved Band of Brothers and The Pacific is pretty damn good.  Last weeks episode setup some of the characters, and I hope that this weeks episode provides some more depth.  You have to live HBO for having the balls to push for these long mini-series with amazing production.  I’ll probably post a overall review when the entire series is over.  Stay tuned.

Microsoft Arc = Returned

So a couple weeks ago I picked up the Microsoft Arc Keyboard.  I liked the overall design, but I had a difficult time typing with it.  Something about the pressure of the keys and the space bar was causing everything I type to be in a big block of text.  I took it back to Best Buy today and picked up the Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000, which is a standard keyboard with a slight curve and a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000.  I had the Wireless Mouse 5000, but I broke the receiver while cleaning my computer, so it was a nice bonus to get that mouse again.  I am pretty happy having a new fancy keyboard that I can type on again.  Also the performance of the Arc with games wasn’t that great.  Just too small for a crazy FPS.

Microsoft Arc Wireless Keyboard

I picked up a Microsoft Arc Wireless Keyboard today at Best Buy while picking up MLB: The Show 10 today. Total impulse buy and so far so good. It is very tiny! Reminds me of my netbook keyboard, but with a slight curve. It feels pretty nice to type on, but I am making a fair amount of mistakes since changing from my good ol’ Microsoft Curve 2000, which has been my favorite keyboard for a couple years now. Check out the photos which will give you an idea of how small this keyboard is!!

Spacehog at Harpers Ferry

I remember when my good pal Chris Croft had me listen to a strange band in his Mustang back in 1995. I remember vividly driving down H Street plugging in the tape adapter to listen to Spacehog. Sadly I never got the chance to see them live way back when but fast forward 15 years (holy shit!!) and 3,000 miles to my new home in Boston and I get the chance to see them live. They played some of my favorites, In the Meantime and others from their first album Resident Alien such as Space is the Place, Spacehog, and Zeroes.  It was a great show.  They were a little rusty, even cracking jokes how they forgot some of their songs, but it brought me back to rocking out so many years ago.
