Schoolhouse Pizza
Moving put a clamp on your spending especially at lunch. Constantly going home for a turkey sandwich and some puppy time was getting a little old, so some of my co-workers suggested Schoolhouse Pizza, which is a short walk from the office. It is your typical pizza place with sandwiches and pizza whole and by the slice. The pizza is thin, sparse on cheese and toppings, but HUGE slices. I ordered two slices before I knew what I was getting into, and the slices are more like quarter slices of a whole pizza. Well worth the $2.50 or something per slice. For a quick bite at lunch the Schoolhouse is a good place to grab it.

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band coming to Boston
Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band “Going On A Hunt” from The Crocodile on Vimeo
One of the hot bands in the blogshpere right now is Seattle’s own Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, who happens to be playing the Middle East Downstairs on Friday the 3rd. I plan on check them out. Their new self titled album was released a couple weeks ago and well worth checking out.
Fud at Four’s Resturant
Last week my boss took me out to lunch and we went over to Four’s Restaurant in Quincy. Four’s is a well known sports bar with another location just a stone’s throw away from The Garden. Four’s has your typical sports bar quirks as well. Lots of televisions with all your favorite games on, probably Sox or Celts, and a pretty nice staff and full bar. The place where Four’s gets a little confusing is the menu. All the sandwiches are named after athletes. So if you want a steak sandwich, then you are going to order a Bobby Orr. Made for a long review of the menu the first time I was there. Sadly I didn’t get any of the named items. I was lame like that. I got some pasta, which was good. I want to go back to Four’s for sure. The Bobby Orr sounds really good! It is on my list!

Food at the Half Door
So moving to a new city I have found the need to start recording what places I enjoy eating at and others I don’t. So I’m going to attempt to provide a nice quick review of the places I go and eat at as I explore Boston. First up is The Half Door in Quincy. The Half Door just happens to be across the street from where I work, so it was one of the first places I went to when I wanted something more then microwave mac & cheese. The Half Door is a standard pub with a light Irish Bar look. Menu is typical bar fare with burgers being the primary item. I ended up getting the Buffalo Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries and a coke. Overall it wasn’t a bad burger at all. Nice large chicken breast deep fried then dipped in buffalo sauce with lettuce and mayo on the burger (hold the tomatoes please). A little messy to eat with the hands, so I wimped out and ate it with a knife and fork. Overall I was please with the burger. The waitress might have been a little more prompt at time, especially considering how slow it was, but whatever.

I have moved to Boston
So the day has some to leave home and venture out in the world. I have accepted a job at 2k Boston and have moved all the way across the country with my dog Scout. I am thrilled about the position, the project, and the people. It should be a fun time out here. Now I just need to make some friends.
Pre-Spring Cleaning
So there is a good possiblity that I could be moving in the coming months and my family has been getting on my case to start thining out my poesssions. I have moved a number of times, but sadly I have a packrat type behavior when it comes to things. I have a garage full of stuff that I haven’t used in years, and I have come to the conclusion it is time to part with the stuff. There are some good things in there, snowboards, various computer parts and games, furniture, and countless other nicknacks. It is shocking how quickly you buy things and how quickly you forget them as well. So I am slowly clearing out the garage of random items, posting them on Craigslist hoping to make a dollar or two. I did post a perfectly working 20″ television for free, just to get rid of it, and that went quickly. We will see if anyone bits on the items I actually put value on.
The Ting Tings to reopen The Croc
It looks like one of the best venues locally will be reopening with a pretty high profile act. The Ting Tings are coming back to the States this Spring and have a show listed in Seattle at The Crocodile Cafe. Those in Seattle will remember that the Croc closed appruptly closed in December of 2007. I always loved going to shows at the Croc due to the very small size. Seeing someone like the Ting Tings would be a blast.
