White Stripes Mania!!

So a great time ago The White Stripes did an entire week on Conan O’Brien.  Being the savy television watcher I am, I recorded every episode to share with everyone online.  The video quality isn’t nearly as nice as the more recent videos I have, but still pretty cool.  Here is the first video Let’s Build A Home.  More to come shortly.

Broken Social Scene on Letterman

Broken Social Scene performed on Letterman a while back.  Here is the video.  These guys are amazing live.  I hope I get to see them again soon.

The Decemberists on Conan

The Decemberists were on Conan a while ago.  I fired up the DVR and thought I would share .  Enjoy.

Rainbow 6: Vegas Demo for Xbox 360

So Ubisoft released a demo for Rainbow 6: Vegas over Xbox Live a couple days ago, and I gave it a try. I was really impressed with all the things that they are doing in the demo, which really makes me wish that I didn’t buy Splinter Cell: Double Agent a couple days ago (more on that later). Ubisoft did a lot of really neat things in Rainbow 6: Vegas that just made me go wow. Lots of tiny little details. Like being able to reverse repel was awesome. The first time you do it you feel like a total badass walking down the side of a building, and one of the ‘wow’ moments was when I was reloading my pistol in reverse repel where my pistol clip dropped. It might sound stupid, but it was one of those tiny details that really pay off if you see them. Some of the other parts included the cover system and blind fire which really worked well once you got used to it. Probably the best was actually getting used to commanding your squad around. I normally hate squad based games, but this felt different once I got used to the controls. Learning to breach a door by tagging enemies with the snake cam and having your squad go after each in a systematic fashion. It was really rewarding. The demo was really impressive and really changed my plans on what I should spend my money on over the next month or two.

Ben Kweller on Carson

Our friend Ben Kweller was on Carson Daily a couple weeks back.  Enjoy the video.

Update: Fixed the video.

Kasabian hurts my ears

So Mew was the reason I went to the show, but I thought I would check out some of Kasabian.  They weren’t that bad.  They were your typical rock band.  The lead singer had this Mick Jagger meets Liam Gallagher thing going.  Perhaps it was the whole British thing.  But the band was loud, people were into it, but people slowly started to leave.  Their songs started to sound all the same after a while, at least to me.  I had to go outside and take a break after 40 minutes or so.  But while I was in there, I took a lot of pictures.  Especially after people started to leave I could get really close to the stage.  So check out the photos.  Enjoy.

Mew at Neumo’s

I was really excited to see Mew tonight at Neumo’s, and they really didn’t disappoint other then not playing long enough. They had a great stage show with a white tarp behind them for a huge projector which was synced to the music in various spots, like during the chorus of various songs. I wasn’t sure that Mew sound would translate well live, but they really did make it work. The lead singer really can control his voice, which was cool to see live. One sad thing was majority of my photos turned out pretty blurry, which really sucks. I more full stage shots then I normally do, because the light from the projector was messing with my camera. My friend Niles cousin Adam came along and wanted a picture with the lead singer, so that is the last shot.

I am really excited because Mew said they would be back in February probably doing a headline tour. I’d say 20% of the people who went to the show went to see Mew and couldn’t careless about Kasabian.

So I was a little slow on these photos, but here are some photos of Ben Kweller when he came to Western Washington University. It was a great show and great seeing the band again. So here are the photos.

Klanguage! Now you know!

So the monthly music thread over on NeoGAF had some new music I thought I should take a listen too and one band just blew me away, Klanguage. Klanguage is a three piece band from France. I could barely find anything about them accept for their MySpace account, but there are four songs on there that just are awesome. Just your basic drums, guitar, and synth. The songs are really catchy riffs and some neat lyrics. Some songs have a nice dance beat to them, while others just rock.  Some really neat mix and production as well.

You can also take a listen over at BigStereo, who has two songs you can listen to!

Mew and Kasabian on Monday

So I am going to see Mew and Kasabian at Neumo’s on Monday. I am pretty excited about seeing Mew since I have been listening to the album for the last couple days. I haven’t listened to a lot of Kasabian, but the little I have sounds alright. Kasabian is the headliner, so I can eat Belgian-style to kill time if needed. I’ll take lots of photos.

CSS rocks The Showbox in Seattle

So CSS opened for Ladytron tonight at the Showbox in Seattle. The only reason I went to the show was to see CSS. I have really enjoyed their album, and I expected a good show, since they are signed to Subpop, so it would be a pseudo homecoming. Well they really delivered putting on a high energy and sexual charged show. Lots of dancing and going into the crowd to have fans sing along. Very entertaining. The band has 5 girls and 1 guy. The lead singer, Lovefoxx as she is known, was just a tiny little women full of energy. CSS has some very suggestive and sexual charged songs, and that just got the crowd even more into it. During Art Bitch Ladyfoxx would be acting out the second chorus, and if you know the song it is somewhat graphics. They really rocked out to Alala, which was their new single. The song is so catchy, with a dark side to it. In a strange twist they did Alcohol, even though it was an all ages show asking the crowd to lift their drinks, but it was cool. They had Ben Gibbard of Deathcab for Cutie come on stage to sing on part of the song, mostly just the ‘whooo whooo’ part. They closed with probably their best known song, Lets Make Love & Listen Death From Above, which really got the crowd going. They took a good long time on this one, as they didn’t have an encore. Overall it was a really cool show. I am really glad that I went out to check them out. Pretty good for forgetting about the show until this afternoon. And now the photos. Majority of them turned out really blurry sadly, mostly because Lovefoxx kept moving around like a grasshopper, and people kept bumping into me. But there are 3 or 4 good ones. I’ll let you guys find them and tell me what you think.  Click on the story link to see the photos…

FLV Player now install! Videos in posts now!

After some major testing I finally got FLV Player working on my site. My first video, which really was only a test video is the Rayman: Raving Rabbids. I personally find it really funny. But I will add other content soon enough. Enjoy.

FireStats added

Now I can see that no one ever reads my blog.  Prove me wrong people.  FireStats is a pretty sweet plugin for Wordpress.  Some great information in there.

Dexter creeps me out, but I can’t stop watching

448-dexter.jpgSo Showtime has a new show called Dexter that follows a blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department who happens to also stalk and murder the guilty in his spare time. Dexter hunts down people that slip through the system and has his way with them. Dexter is played by Michael C. Hall, formerly of Six Feet Under, portrays this man who doesn’t understand human contact, but has to play by the rules so he doesn’t get caught. Dexter is directed and produced by Michael Cuesta, who did the movies L.I.E. and Twelve And Holding, which I saw at the Seattle International Film Festival. The show reminds me of a more light hearted Nightstalker (the new one), mostly due to the show having a sense of humor even with such a strange story and characters. The show is well worth checking out, so turn in to Showtime.
