More GDC goodies

Got some videos from the Sony presentation at GDC.

Video have been pulled.  My webhost was getting hammered.  I hope to get them back online soon.

Metric kicks major ass live!

Now I like Metric, and they have some great albums, but I wasn’t sure about their live show.  Word from a friend said that they were awesome live, so I thought I’d check it out.  So Keith and our new pal Che went to see Metric last night at The Showbox, and they absolutely rocked.  I mean, one of the better shows I’ve seen in a while.  Emily Haines is a rock goddess too!!  She was so hot at the show!  Sang without any effort, sounded awesome, had this wicked dress on that made her look like some type of superhero rockstar from space or something.  It was awesome.  This is also the first show with my new Casio camera.  Being old and the show being at the Showbox, I really didn’t feel like going to the floor, but the camera worked out great.  Here are some photos.

Ninety Nine Nights videos over 1500 downloads now

Wow, I am impressed. My little site has 1500 downloads from some digital camera videos that I took during GDC. I am impressed. This also doesn’t count the downloads on Xboxyde.  Hopefully I will get some more good videos to share with the world in the near future.  E3 is coming along here quickly.

Brain Age for Nintendo DS

Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a DaySo while at GDC this year Nintendo gave out free copies of Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day for the Nintendo DS. I didn’t own a DS, but I really wanted to play this game after the cool demo during the GDC keynote. So my girlfriend and I went down to Fry’s and picked up a blue DS with Animal Crossing: Wild World. So I get home and play a little bit of Brain Age and I am hooked. The mini-games in where you do math and reading outloud really seem to do something. It kinda shocks how your brain really works the first and second time you try one of the excercises, such as the color reading where you say the color the word is, not the word on the screen.  So it is a little tricky, seeing the word ‘RED’ but in black text.  You end up tripping once in a while.  It sound easy, but they trick you a couple times by doing the color red, then the next one will be the word red in a different color.  Oh, those tricky Nintendo designers.  While I won’t be able to do calculus anytime soon, this is just a neat little program to fool around with. In addition to the brain training part, there is also 100 Sudoku puzzles in the game as well, which I find really challenging and entertaining. Almost like Tetris in terms of pickup and play a little while out and about.

N3 movies popular!

This is pretty amazing how word travels over the internet.  The Ninety Nine Nights videos have over 800 downloads in just the couple hours they have been up!!  Amazing.

I’d love to hear some comments, so post some words.

All the way from Canada, Broken Social Scene

I have never seen Broken Social Scene on television, and then all the sudden they show up on Conan, and now I am sharing it with you. This clip of them doing 7/4 (Shoreline) shows the awesome power of the band live, something everyone should see in person.

Broken Social Scene on Conan

I love Bloc Party, so I give you a Bloc Party video

Here is a video of Bloc Party doing Banquet on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I really hope Bloc Party comes to Seattle sometime soon! They are one of the bands I haven’t been able to see.

Bloc Party on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Feist on Conan and Jimmy Kimmel

Finally some new videos. Here are two clips of Feist doing Mushaboom, one on Conan and one on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Feist on Conan

Remember videos are now iPod, so they will play via Quicktime or iTunes which you can download from Apple

iPod friendly movies coming soon

So I finally found a program that allows me to compress the videos from my DVR and keeps everything in-sync.  This is good news, I should have some new videos up shortly.

Off to GDC next week

So I am going to my first Game Developers Conference next week in San Jose. I really have no idea what to expect, but it should be pretty sweet. There are some really cool sounding session this year including:

  • All About Ninety-Nine Nights: Next-Gen Character Design with Tetsuya Mizuguchi of Q Entertainment
  • Scaring the Beejezus out of the Player in an FPS with staff from High Moon Studios makers of Darkwatch
  • The Game Design Challenge: The Nobel Peace Prize which is featuring CliffyB of Epic Games, Eric Zimmerman of gameLAB, Harvey ‘Witchboy’ Smith of Midway, and Keita Takahashi of Namco
  • What’s Next in Design with Will Wright of Maxis

It should be pretty awesome. So many sessions to go too and not enough time.

Video problems causing delays

I keep meaning to keep this site udpated but I just keep forgetting about it. I’ve got some awesome videos to upload, but I’m having some trouble keeping the video insync with the audio. Stay tuned, I really want to get them up on the site sooner then later.
